Petrol Expense Calculator provides free petrol and fuel-cost calculators, reference tables, and written guides. This page explains the limits of that information. It supplements, and does not replace, the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy.
Estimates only
Every result on this site is an estimate. Calculations run entirely in your browser from the values you enter — distance, fuel efficiency, fuel price, units, vehicle type, and any optional costs. They are not a quotation, invoice, reimbursement rate, or fuel receipt, and they are not a substitute for measured records.
Because the inputs come from you, the accuracy of a result depends on the accuracy of those inputs. Real-world fuel consumption changes with traffic, terrain, speed, idling, weather, climate-control use, load, tyre pressure, mechanical condition, and driving or riding style.
What the calculators do not include
Unless a page states otherwise, results cover fuel cost only. They exclude servicing, repairs, tyres, insurance, registration, taxes, tolls, parking, financing, depreciation, and driver or rider time. A fuel-cost figure is one part of the cost of running a vehicle, not the whole of it.
Currency is a label applied to the number you calculate. No live fuel price, national average, or exchange rate is fetched, and changing the currency does not convert the amount.
Confirm prices and efficiency locally
Check the current pump price and its volume unit yourself, and use fuel efficiency measured for your own vehicle rather than an advertised or assumed figure where you can. Reference tables and default values on this site are illustrative planning examples, not manufacturer claims.
