The math

Scooter Petrol Cost Formula

Fuel required = total distance ÷ scooter mileage

Total petrol cost = fuel required × petrol price

Cost per km = total cost ÷ total distance

Return distance = one-way distance × 2

For L/100 km, fuel required equals distance in kilometres × L/100 km ÷ 100. For MPG, fuel required equals distance in miles ÷ MPG, using the matching US or Imperial gallon. Intermediate values retain full precision; displayed fuel and money values are rounded for readability.

Worked Scooter Petrol Cost Example

Inputs: 25 km one way, return trip, 40 km/L, PKR 280 per litre.

Total distance = 25 × 2 = 50 km

Fuel required = 50 ÷ 40 = 1.25 litres

Total petrol cost = 1.25 × 280 = PKR 350

Cost per kilometre = 350 ÷ 50 = PKR 7/km

One-Way vs Return-Trip Petrol Cost

For a return scooter journey, the calculator doubles the one-way distance before estimating fuel. If you enter the complete out-and-back distance yourself, select one way to avoid doubling it again. Repeated journeys should use the combined distance for all trips.

Kilometres per Litre vs Litres per 100 km

Higher km/L means better fuel efficiency; lower L/100 km means better efficiency. Convert with L/100 km = 100 ÷ km/L and km/L = 100 ÷ L/100 km. For example, 40 km/L equals 2.5 L/100 km.

US MPG vs Imperial MPG

US and Imperial gallons have different volumes. One US gallon is 3.785411784 litres; one Imperial gallon is 4.54609 litres. Imperial MPG is numerically higher for the same efficiency, so select the correct mileage and petrol-price unit rather than treating them as interchangeable.

Start with the distance travelled on a typical day and the actual number of travel days. Monthly distance = daily distance × travel days. Monthly fuel required = monthly distance ÷ mileage. Monthly cost = monthly fuel required × petrol price.
